A Rest on Vacation

Whew! We need a rest! Do Your Vacation Plans Include Some Down Time?

RCCL Brilliance of the Seas

Brilliance of the Seas

We have been going non stop since we landed in Barcelona. After Rome we get 2 days of just cruising the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.  We haven’t even had time to rest and enjoy our cruise ship Brilliance of the Seas. So, now we will do just that.

This ship is a mid size by today’s ship sizes. About 2500 passengers on 90,000 GRT. Plenty of space to move about without a crowd.  She is one of 4 in the Radiance  Class of Royal Caribbean Ships.

Fun or Rest?

You can be as active or as quiet as you want. Although on this sailing there were very few children because of the length and destinations, she does have great children’s facilities.  Even teens would be busy with many outdoor activities as well as the Fitness Center.

Rock Climbing Wall on the ship

Rock Climbing Wall

Some of the Highlights are the Rock Climbing wall that is a challenge on a moving vessel. The adult Solarium is a quiet place with it’s own buffet. Many outdoor activities including, golf simulator, basketball/volley ball court and pools and hot tubs. There is even a self-leveling pool table. Of course the Casino is in full swing every evening.

The Conference Rooms and Meeting Rooms make this a great place for business and family groups. The AV equipment is top of the line. We had 2 sessions in one of these rooms and loved them. The spa services and fitness center and as good as any at home. No lack of choices in both.

Great Food on a Cruise Ship…

The food is wonderful

Food is wonderful

Food is king on a cruise ship and this one was great. There are 2 specialty restaurants that have a small service charge. The food is high end and the service is very personal. Great steaks and Italian food in the alternate dining rooms. But we enjoyed the Windjammer Buffet in the evenings. Quiet with lots of choices. The usually dining rooms and buffets were outstanding. I don’t think we have ever had better watermelon on a cruise ship – clear to the last day. Of course there are many lounges with all different music.

We had balcony cabins which we spent much time on our balconies on sea days. And even in the early morning and evening. I love having a door that opens with fresh air. We don’t always want to be out with the crowd, so our personal private space was wonderful.

Now we rest and visit with our friends. What a great break in a busy schedule.

Most of our vacations are planned with countless activities, our schedules are filled with “go, go, go”! When we get home we are often heard to say ” I need a vacation from my vacation!”

Great FriendsTaking your vacation on a cruise ship such as Brilliance of the Seas will allow you to have the best of both world, fun activities as well as time for rest and relaxation.
