Price vs Value – When Planning Travel, Which is More Important to You?
“I have a pair of shoes for sale – cheap. They are good shoes, nice color, good material.
What??? You say they aren’t your size so you don’t want them? You don’t “like” them. What does that have to do with anything? They are cheap”.
Is that how you buy a car, clothes, food, or anything else? So many people buy their flights or accomodations because of cheap prices…Why would you buy travel based on that? You will get cheap with little or no value.
Are you looking for a cheap cruise?
Let’s look at buying a cruise, for instance. When you are researching the internet for your next cruise vacation, what are you looking for?
- A cheap price?
- A particular cruise line?
- A particular ship that you love?
- A particular destination?
- The dates you can go and who goes at that time?
If you are new to cruising and are picking your trip based on price, you may be in for a huge shock and come home saying “cruising is awful and so disappointing…I will never cruise again”.
There are lot of “cheap” cruises. As with anything else in life – if you want cheap, cheap is what you get. All cruise lines are NOT created equal. It takes an expert to understand the price vs. value equation, and what you will really be getting.
Like the pair of shoes I am trying to sell you, not all ships fit everyone. Each ship has a “personality”. I try to fit the ship, as much as is possible, to the client. No online site can ever do that, nor do they even try. There is no emotion in your computer to understand how important this trip is to you or what you want and are exxpecting.
What about a cheap hotel?
Not only should cruises be picked by value, but so should hotels, resorts, or destinations of any kind. There are a lot of ways to see the world, but not all are right for you.
